Joanne Hurst
My name is Joanne Hurst, and I am the Headteacher at Millwood Primary School. I feel extremely honoured and privileged to have been chosen by the Governing Body to continue to build upon the successes the school has already achieved. Whilst I am new to the role of Headteacher in a full time capacity, I am not new to Millwood. In 2008 I was appointed as Assistant Headteacher and for the last two years I have been in a job share Headteacher role for 2 days a week. The vast majority of my career has been in special education and I previously worked in a special school in Bolton where I also gained a specialist teacher qualification for pupils with MSI (Multi-Sensory Impairment). My areas of interest, strengths and expertise lie in:
- Inclusion,
- Establishing the values and vision of our school.
- Ensuring high quality teaching and learning is taking place.
- Leading staff and pupils to success.
- Supporting and developing staff.
I am passionate about “Making A Difference” every day for our children and families and pride myself on creating and maintaining relationships with all stakeholders. I hope to use my experience to make our children world class learners’ developing in them a confidence and thirst for knowledge enabling them to realise their talents and create their own future. On a personal level I am a mum to two grown up sons and away from school I enjoy spending time with my family, exploring new places both near and far and going on long walks with my two huskies-Luna and Narley.
